PAS GRAS is represented at the Westminster Health Forum: Next Steps for Obesity Prevention and Care in England, a high-level policy meeting contributing to discussions surrounding the development of the UK’s NHS 10-Year Health Plan.
Afshan Malik, investigator from King's College London and a member of the PAS GRAS consortium, is one of the keynote speakers and will present insights linked to the project’s work on obesity prevention, health inequalities, and system-level approaches to metabolic health.
The conference will bring together policymakers, researchers, healthcare professionals, industry representatives, and public health stakeholders to discuss the future of obesity policy in England. Key topics include healthier food environments, food marketing regulation, childhood obesity prevention, inequalities in access to care, and the growing role of technological and pharmaceutical interventions such as weight-loss medications, genomics, AI, and personalised healthcare.
Discussions will also explore how national and local policies can better align to strengthen prevention strategies, improve access to healthier food, and support sustainable healthcare pathways.
The event comes at a crucial moment for obesity policy in the UK, as government institutions review prevention strategies, food regulations, and long-term healthcare planning.
By contributing to these discussions, PAS GRAS continues to support evidence-based policymaking and reinforces the importance of combining prevention, innovation, and equity in tackling obesity across Europe and beyond.
