PAS GRAS 3rd Annual Meeting strengthens collaboration and sets priorities for the next phase of the project
From May 4 to 6, the PAS GRAS consortium gathered in Bari for its 3rd Annual Meeting, bringing together partners from across Europe to reflect on progress, address challenges, and define priorities for the next phase of the project.
The meeting began on May 4 with the arrival of participants and a welcoming PAS GRAS social evening, creating an informal setting for partners to reconnect and strengthen collaborative relationships.
On May 5, consortium members were officially welcomed at the Clinica Medica “A. Murri” – Policlinico di Bari by Francesco Giorgino, Director of the Department of Precision and Regenerative Medicine and Ionian Area, and Professor Piero Portincasa, host of the meeting. The day continued with project presentations led by coordinator Paulo Oliveira, focusing on reviewing progress across all work packages, with partners sharing results, achievements, milestones, and ongoing activities across the project’s research, innovation, and communication dimensions.
The final day shifted to more focused working sessions, allowing partners to explore key challenges in greater depth, align upcoming priorities, and accelerate the next phase of implementation. Throughout the meeting, participants engaged in interactive discussions, exchanged best practices, and identified concrete next steps. Feedback from the External Advisory Board provided valuable external perspectives and additional guidance. From sharing results to identifying opportunities for stronger integration across work packages, the meeting reinforced PAS GRAS’ collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to tackling obesity and metabolic health challenges.
Alongside the scientific programme, social moments throughout the meeting played an important role in fostering both professional and informal interactions. These opportunities continue to strengthen partnerships, encourage collaboration, and reinforce the sense of community within the consortium.
The consortium extends its sincere thanks to the organisers, the External Advisory Board members for their valuable insights, and all attendees for their active participation and contributions.
As PAS GRAS moves forward, the outcomes of the Bari meeting will help guide future activities and maximise the project’s scientific and societal impact across Europe.
