About PAS GRAS
PAS GRAS is a 5-year (2023-2028) research project aimed at reducing overweight and obesity rates in Europe, which have been on the rise for the past decades, both in adults and children.
According to the World Obesity Federation, the worldwide prevalence of obesity has more than tripled between 1975 and 2022, leading up to one billion people presently living with obesity.
Obesity is recognised by the World Health Organization as one of the most important public health problems facing the world today.
4 billion
people estimated to be living with overweight or obesity in 2050
According to the Global Burden of Disease, without immediate action, by 2050, around a third (746 million) of the world’s children and adolescents, and almost 2 in 3 adults over the age of 25 years, will have overweight and obesity. This will likely have a significant impact on the wellbeing of future generations.
